04/2019 - 12/2019

The year continued with farrier competitions with world's largest competition in Netherlands between 11/04 and 13/04. Lauri was 9th in the division 3.

At 18/05 Marja with Ainhoa Patchouli and Lauri with Don Pablo went together to Saint-Beauzile and completed 20 km national. This small competition served nice training without any assistance.

The Soumesac CEI 2* with Master Cruiser and Marja didn't go as planned. They had hard time during the course and sadly Master Cruiser was slightly lame at 3rd gate. However next day Master Cruiser did not show any signs on problems. After the competition we decided that for Master Cruiser it might be best to continue his career in Finland where the competition regime and courses might suit him better.

Nice 40 km competition in Castelsagrat at 01/06 served as good training for Lauri and Don Pablo for the future.

The farrier competitions continued for Lauri in Sweden at 06/06 when the Swedish Championships are traditionally held. Lauri was second in the division 3!

Again preparing for bigger competition Lauri and Don Pablo completed 60 km in Vaissac. Next day Marja and Ainhoa Patchouli completed 40 km also in Vaissac. Really good weekend!

Sadly in following weeks Don Pablo had small injury in his foot and we had to postpone the 80 km competition that we had been training and preparing for.

Very near to us was nice competition in La Croix Blanche at 13/07 where Marja and Ainhoa Patchouli completed 20 km.

Lauri continued in farrier competitions in Norway at 10/08 winning the division 3! No more is he allowed to compete in divison 3 as he has now officially placed to division 2.

In Finland Step Night with Miia competed in Kouvola at 24/08 and completed 68 km CEN. Well done!

Marja and Ainhoa Patchouli continued to make qualifications at 31/08 in Gageac Rouillac where they completed CEN 60 km without problems.

Lauri and Don Pablo was getting ready for bigger competition at 22/09 in Degagnazes 30 km CEN.

Finally at 29/09 Lauri and Don Pablo completed 82 km CEN in Routier. First real step towards FEI qualification. Well done!

Farrier competition in France La Brede was held at 19/10 and Lauri was 8th in divison 2. Good start in division 2 no doubt!

Next farrier competition was in Belgium at 10/11 where Lauri was 9th in division 2.

Last farrier competition was held in Catalonia Spain at 15/12 and Lauri was 2nd in division 2!

During the winter time we have been getting ready for up coming season. Training and preparing continues as planned.

12/2018 - 03/2019

December was rest period for the horses and at January we started to train the horses as usually for up coming season.

First thing at February we constructed riding arena for more precise schooling and for easier training during wet and slippery days.

Season started at 24/02 in Cremps where Marja completed CEN 40km with Jiicee Superstar. Good weather, nice and easy start to the season.

First real deal was at 03/03 in Tartas where Marja completed CEI1* 80km with Master Cruiser. Again great weather and they finished without problems.

Next weekend in Jämsä Finland at 09/03 the Step Night completed CEN 65km. This time with Miia as Laura injured her angle earlier. It was really good that Step Night was able to get this important qualification with the help of Miia. Thank you!

At 10/03 in hard track of Alles-Sur-Dordogne, Lauri and Don Pablo completed CEN 44km. Good season start for Don Pablo and Lauri!

Again at 17/03 Marja and Jiicee Superstar was getting nice competition training in Escamps CEN 21km. Easy kilometres but always good training!

Ainhoa Patchouli got his important qualification at 30/3 in Durance CEN 42 km with Marja. Well done! Durance is only about 20 km from us so transport was really easy this time!

Next months will include more of the main events of the season (inc. CEI2*) for which we are working hard to get ready.

Fall 2018

09 - 11 / 2018

Fall was quite typical but dry this year. It was easy to train and nice weather to compete but hay was not growing that good. Luckily for the hay it started to rain closer to winter. And as usually, it rained a lot.

Jiicee Superstar was getting ready for the world championships for young horses and we went to have training competition in Castelsagrat at 02/09. Marja and Jiicee completed the 40 km without problems and it was quite nice training for the upcoming world championships.

Don Pablo (5yo) was getting ready for national championships for young horses. He needed one 40 km SHF competition to qualify to the championships. Marja and Don Pablo finished 40 km in Routiers at 15/09 without problems.

At 29/09 the world championships for young horses took place in Samorin. We were there with Jiicee Superstar. Jiicee and Marja finished the race without major problems. The main goal was to finish and hopefully with better speed than before. As usually Jiicee was able to exceed our expectations and did well. Traveling went really well and in the competition Jiicee broke the 16 km/h barrier without problems. Main thing was that Jiicee was really good even after the last vet gate and after all the traveling and the competition she was like nothing at home. You can read more precise about the Samorin at https://www.teamsunracing.com/p/samorin-wcf.html in our blog.

Quite soon after the Samorin Don Pablo did go to national championships for young horses that took place in Uzes at 14/10. This 60 km competition has very strict veterinary inspections and at the end the horse is classified per the results of the inspections and the average speed. Speed needs to be between 14.8 km/h and 15.5 km/h thus there is only about 10 minute window to cross the finish line. The heart rate needs to be 54 or under in 5 minutes to get two points or in 10 minutes to get one point. Also all the metabolic indicators needs to be perfect. Marja and Don Pablo completed the competition nicely. Don Pablo gained two points out of four but for trotter it was still quite well done and he classified as "Very Good".

Last competition for the year was first FEI competition for Laura. In Pamiers at 17/11 Laura and Master Cruise completed CEI 1* 82 km without problems. Well done!

During the winter the horses will have some rest but as usually at the beginning of the year we start to train for the next season.

Summer 2018

The summer was quite hot and dry as usual so there was not so many competitions. We and also the organisers plan most of the competitions around the hottest summer time.

Master Cruiser did his first international race at 17/6 in Soumensac with Marja. Master Cruiser was moved from Finland to France at the beginning of the year and we did few test races before we went up to try the international level. Even in hot weather Master Cruiser showed no signs of problems and the CEI 80 km was finished quite nicely.

Also Ainhoa Patchouli debuted with Marja during the summer. First race for the horse but finished with ease the CEN 20 km at 14/7 in La Croix Blanche. Accompanied with Don Pablo and Lauri. It was nice to go together but always it is somewhat stressful to have two horses WITHOUT any crew to help.

At 24/8 we had two day competition CEI 2* 2x70 km in Monpazier with Master Cruiser. The first day went really well and there was no problems. Horse felt just great all-around. At the next morning the horse was somewhat stiff but stiffness went away after walking and there was no problems in the vet control. However after the first loop of the second day the Master Cruiser sadly went slightly lame that was also visible in the vet check. There was no problems with the hoofs or lower limbs thus we concluded that there was some minor strain that caused the lameness. Next morning there was no lameness or any problem whatsoever. So luckily it was just bad luck with minor injury that stopped the race that day.

Meanwhile Laura continued training and racing with Step Night as planned. Step Night completed CEN 48 km with Laura at 26/08 in Kouvola without problems.

Even the summer was quite hot and dry we still continued to train hard for the upcoming events. Most of all to the main event of our season: World Championship for Young Horses in Samorin, Slovakia.

Spring 2018

Spring started at 25/03 in Durance's great tracks when Marja / Master Cruiser completed CEN 60 km easily. Even it has been raining very much the stiff sandy tracks in Durance held really well and it was very nice to compete there.

Next was the first FEI qualification for 5 yo Don Pablo at 15/04 in Montendre where Lauri / Don Pablo completed CEN 44 km. It was quite wet but the track was decent and there was no major problems.

At 29/04 in Beaumont-du-Perigord both Lauri / Jiicee Superstar and Marja / Master Cruiser competed in CEI 44 km. Track was very slippery and rocky. Also the parking and grooming areas suffered really badly from the rainy weather. Luckily Lauri and Marja was however able to complete the race quite easily. Thank you Laura for the grooming / assistance!

In Finland at 05/05 in Pinsiö it was time for the first FEI qualification for Step Night. Laura / Step Night was able to complete the race easily. Well done!

The spring highlighted at 20/05 in Castelsagrat where our own breeding, owned and trained, Finnish born Jiicee Superstar debuted in her first CEI 2* 120 km. Weather was really hot recording up to 30°C and the track had lot of ascend totalling over 1900 meters. Nevertheless our 7 yo Jiicee Superstar ride by Marja was able to complete the race without problems! Excellent job!

Winter 2017-2018

Spring is coming!

18.02.2018 Laura and her new horse Step Night started the year in Hollola completing CEN 24 km successfully. This was the first race for the horse but everything went smoothly. Quite promising debut for the horse!

25.02.2018 Jiicee Superstar completed the legendary but difficult Hasparren CEI 90 km race with Marja. This was the first completed CEI 1* for our own bred "foal". Born to us and under our eyes in Finland and now ridden by us in CEI level in France. What an excellent horse she has grown into! We are very lucky to have her!

25.02.2018 Laura and Step Night completed CEN 32 km in Lieto. Lot of unlucky events before even getting to the race put some stress to the competition but still the horse was able to finish the race without problems. Well done yet again!

We celebrated the new year by moving from our old house to the new. Also we moved our horses with us to our new stables. Thus lot to do in very limited time. Also we are going to do lot of renovating to the stables and to the surroundings during the year while training and competing normally. Needless to say that we will be having quite stressful year but we trust that it will be worth it.

We also transferred our Master Cruiser from Finland to here in France. Master Cruiser has completed the FEI qualification and he shows quite good potential to be steady performer in CEI level. We plan to have few training competitions with him and then we try to break the ice for CEI level during the spring.

Jiicee Superstar is getting lot of training and we aim to progress in to the higher CEI levels. Don Pablo is starting his FEI novice qualification this year and we hope to get that underway and done during this year. Ainhoa Patchouli is going to debut in competitions during the year and we plan to get him steadily towards national young horses championships.

Laura will continue on training and competing her new horse Step Night in Finland. Also in addition to endurance racing Lauri will be competing in various competitions in farriery / blacksmithing during the year.

Autumn 2017

A lot has happened during the autumn of 2017.

06.10.2017 Lauri and Jiicee Superstar competed in 6yo finals in Uzes France. Jiicee Superstar was awarded with rating "Very Good". Only 30 from 138 of the best 6yo horses got better rating. Thus "very good" was quite good considering that Jiicee was the only non-Arabian horse in the competition made for Arabians. The race had heart rate limit of 56 in every vet gate and 54 at the finish within 10 minutes. Even with the strict rules that aren't easy for trotters Jiicee was able to finish with speed of 14.4km/h. This was also the last novice qualification for Jiicee for the FEI level!

14.10.2017 Laura and Master Cruiser finished 80km in Urjala which was also their last novice qualification for the FEI level! Without problems Laura and Master Cruiser was able to finish the race.

05.11.2017 Don Pablo and Marja finished 44km without problems in La Crau. This 4yo horse is showing quite promising start to his racing career.

25.11.2017 Jiicee Superstar and Lauri debuted in CEI1* but sadly did not finish. As being mare and boxed near many stallions Jiicee developed serious rut (heat) for the race morning. That influenced unusually hard to the behaviour of Jiicee thus resulting metabolic disqualification due to high heart rate which lowered to normal levels after 5 minutes from the vet gate. The problem was not actually metabolic but excitement caused by the rut and nearby stallions. Bad luck but we will be prepared next time to deal with the potential rut!

With broken hearts we had to announce the tragic and untimely loss of our oldest and most accomplished horse Super Pearl in accident in her paddock at 8.10.2017. This tragic event brought us to consider our future more closely.

After some consideration we decided that we want our own stables with pastures and home next to the stables. After few months of searching we found perfect combination for us. We will be moving there 1.1.2018. We hope that after some renovating we can get the stables just perfect for our requirements. The area includes 30ha of land for paddocks, prairies and fields and including stables with 14 boxes and large storing areas. Also including good paths for training in walk, trot and gallop. We are looking forward to develop our team with our new facilities.

During winter we continue on training and preparing to move to our new facilities. Lot of work but we look forward to it!

Summer 2017

Not much during the summer as there is not as much of competitions during the hot summer time. But still lot of training for the main events of the year.

10.06.2017 Lauri with Jiicee Superstar and Marja with Don Pablo started in hilly Greoux Les Bains in CEN 20 km. In the 20 km alone there was over 250m of incline which meant really good training for the horses. Both horses finished easily without any problems but due to mix up with interpreting the rules the Don Pablo was disqualified because the speed was too high for 4yo horse. Anyway very good training for both of horses.

24.06.2017 Jiicee Superstar and Marja completed CEN 42 km in Le Luc 42 km. Weather was really hot recording over 40C under the sun. Heat stress was very high but Jiicee was able to complete the race without any major issues.

08.07.2016 Master Cruiser and Laura completed CEN 80 km in Padise Estonia. This was Master Cruiser's first CEN 80 km but it went really well. Without any problems with very good recovery times Master Cruiser was able to complete the race with speed of 13.2 km / h.

23.07.2017 Don Pablo and Marja completed CEN 40 km in Revest-du-Bion 40 km. This young horse completed the race without any problems.

26.08.2017 Lauri and Jiicee Superstar completed CEN 40 km in Greoux-les-Bains. This was just training competition for the upcoming main event. With good speed (14,8 km / h while maximum allowed was 15 km / h) and with good recovery (heart rate 52) this was quite easy race for Jiicee Superstar.

During the fall we are getting ready for the main event for Jiicee Superstar and the last FEI qualification of CEN 80 km for Master Cruiser. Also we continue to race with Don Pablo to make him more comfortable with racing. We are also training with Ainhoa Patchouli to get him ready for saddle and races for the next year.

Spring 2017

Spring has been quite eventful for us.

We decided to retire Super Pearl as we got her pregnant. While Super Pearl wasn't meant for this sport, she still single handedly brought us up to FEI 3* level. Six years with us resulted great foal Jiicee Superstar and over 1500 km of completed races. We hope that she can make yet another great foal for us while enjoying her well earned retirement constantly watching over the herd!

26.03.2017 Farid Ibn Shadwan and Lauri tried to start FEI 1* in La Voulte Sur Rhone. Sadly surprisingly cold morning with raining caused cold wind within the trailer that resulted very stiff shoulder for the horse. That resulted lameness in the first inspections and Farid Ibn Shadwan was not able to start. Due to the history of this horse and other minor issues during the winter we decided to give the horse total rest from this season. We hope that after the rest we can continue to use him fully again in the next season.

23.04.2017 Laura and Master Cruiser started in Lapua Finland in CEN 56 km. This event was quite far away (5 hours driving) so we came to the place one day before the event. Horse behaved quite well during the transport and he was really calm and nice during the day and night before the event. For endurance horse to be able to rest and to be calm during the transport and time in the event area, is really good perk to have. The race went really well and the Master Cruise won the Best Condition award.

28.04.2017 Jiicee Superstar and Lauri started Jiicee's first CEN 81 km in Uzes. The 6yo horse went really well during the whole race and was able to finish the race with speed of 15.6 km / h without problems.

30.04.2017 After few days Marja and Don Pablo started also in Uzes in CEN 20 km. This was the very first race for 4yo Don Pablo. Overall everything went really well and the horse was working nicely with good recovery times.

27.05.2017 In Finland Laura and Master Cruiser started CEN 64 km in Liesjärvi. The race went well without any major problems. Horse did finish in good condition with last pulse of 48.

During the summer we plan to have few more competitions mainly with Don Pablo to get him to be fluent in competitions. With Jiicee Superstar and Master Cruiser we are training hard for the season's main events. Jiicee Superstar is aiming to the Young Horses Championship in Uzes and Master Cruiser is going for the final CEN 80 km competitions for his FEI qualification.

We also bought new horse Ainhoa Patchouli. This 4yo arab gelding is starting the basic training and we hope to get him ready for first starts in the next season.

Winter 2016-2017

The winter weather was quite nice and we were able to train without major problems from the weather.

During the winter we bought two new horses. We bought Master Cruiser in December from Finland and for now the horse is staying in Finland. Most of the time Laura rides and competes with Master Cruiser. This horse is 9yo american-french trotter (gelding) which retired from race tracks. Master Cruiser has some quite good traits for endurance horse and the conformation is really good for long distance running. Master Cruiser has lot of potential and we hope to see fast progress during the upcoming season.

In February we bought Don Pablo from France which is also retired trotter. Don Pablo is only 4yo french trotter (gelding). In spite for his young age he is very calm. He is also very eager to learn new things. Also he has very nice movement overall. All these traits should server him well during his endurance career. During the season we are going to build steady foundation for future for Don Pablo with broad basic training and with many small races.

Lauri and Super Pearl competed in Port Saint Louis at 16.11.2016 at CEI*. This competition had minimum speed limit of 14 km/h but otherwise the course was quite easy without any inclines. Previous weeks with heavy raining made the course really wet with lot of flooded parts that made the race harder. However the obstacles Super Pearl was able to finish the race yet again with speed over 15 km/h.

Lauri and Master Cruiser competed in Vesilahti Finland at 28.1.2017 at CEN 18 km. This competition was first race for Master Cruiser and it was just test for the horse to see how he works in the competition. Master Cruiser was really calm and completed the race without major problems. Future seems really good for this horse.

Lauri and Jiicee Superstar competed in Villelaure at 26.2.2017 at CEN 40 km. First competition in PACA area of France. We were mostly just testing the current fitness of Jiicee Superstar. Everything went well and Jiicee was able to finish the race without problems. All looks really good for upcoming events for Jiicee Superstar!

Laura and Master Cruiser competed in Jämsä Finland at 11.3.2017 at CEN 32 km. First race for Laura with Master Cruiser. Horse was quite nervous during the race but Laura and Master Cruiser finished well. More experience for the horse and we trust that horse will learn to relax in future competitions.

At the same date (11.3.2017) Marja and Jiicee Superstar competed in La Crau at CEN 60 km. This race was quite easy overall and we didn't want to push the horse to the limits. Horse was really good and everything looks very nice for future races.

Overall winter was quite nice with good training and few races that prepare us for the upcoming season.

Fall 2016

The fall has been very hot but now it has been turning much cooler which is good for the horses. Still days over 15C degrees but much less than the 35C degrees we got about two months ago.

Lauri and Jiicee Superstar was racing in St Ismier at 20.08.2016 where they did complete 40km inter-regional race for 5yo horses. Race was quite hard but Jiicee managed everything really well. Recoveries was really good and Jiicee was the fastest horse in the race! Really well done! Jiicee also got her qualification for the endurance finals that takes place in Uzes at 09.10.2016. There is total over 700 horses racing during 4 days. In the race for 5yo there is over 350 horses! It will be incredible hard test for the horses, riders, crew and organization in the Uzes. We will be trying our best!

Next weekend (27.08.2016) Lauri / Super Pearl and Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan was racing together in Monpazier CEI* 80km.  Monpazier course included over 1400m of climb which made this race really hard. It took over 8 hours of travel from stables to the Monpazier. Thus we travelled to Monpazier two days before the race. However during the two nights at Monpazier Super Pearl didn't sleep at all as she was only focused to dig as big hole as she could during the night. Traveling with other horse from the same herd made her furious when she couldn't see the other horse during the night. Thus Super Pearl didn't get almost any rest during the time in Monpazier. In the start of the race Marja had problems with Farid as the horse was not familiar with so many horses (over 70) in small compact area of the trotting course from where the start was conducted. After few minutes of struggle Lauri and Marja was able to start together. After all that, it was merely matter of finishing the first FEI race for Farid without any more incidents. Also Super Pearl showed signs of fatigue during the race but by slowing down she recovered nicely. By playing it safe both was able to finish without problems!

We decided to give horses total rest for few weeks after previous races and rest from racing during September. At the end of September we trained hard to get horses ready for the upcoming finals. Jiicee Superstar was getting ready really well for the endurance finals for young horses in Uzes at 09.10.2016. Also Farid Ibn Shadwan was getting ready for the finals of the grand regional cup in Salin de Giraud at 16.10.2016.

Lauri / Jiicee Superstar in Usez at 09.10.2016. This race included over 350 5yo horses in one day! Incredible race with superior organizers. Categories was really hard to get. First 60km race with young horse and you should get speed over 14km/h, pulse under 54 after 5min and all but perfect from veterinary tests. Every part added for one category. To complete the race you would get "qualified" and for each part you would get "very good", "excellent" and up to "elite". Jiicee Superstar felt really good during the race and the speed was really good all the time. Only few side jumps that are quite common with young horses. With speed of 14.6km/h we got one category. Sadly pulse was 55 (!) after 5min so we lost one category. Also veterinary tests didn't give all perfect so we lost also one category from that. Total category was "very good". Little bit of bad luck with the tests but overall we are really proud of Jiicee Superstar. Such great effort from this young horse! After the race Jiicee will get some rest and then we start training for the next year. Lot of races planned for Jiicee and hopefully we can get to 6yo finals and make great results there.

Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan in Salin de Giraud at 16.10.2016. This race was final for grand regional cup with length over 80km. All was open before the finals and from top 5 anyone could take the win. Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan was at 5th place before the finals. As usual Farid was working great and was able to finish with speed over 15.7km/h. Last heart rate was 46! However the competition was really hard and this resulted only 5th place. Nevertheless this should ensure 5th place in the grand regional cup! Because of mixed results it might be possible to rise up to 3rd place after the final count is finished. No matter what the final placement is, it was great result again and overall extraordinary season against really hard competition! Farid will get some well earned rest and we will be aiming for CEI2* race at December in Spain which is the last race of the year!

UPDATE

The final results are in and Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan was 3rd in total results of Grand Regional PACA Endurance Challenge Cup! Well done!

Summer 2016

During the hottest time of summer we gave each horse small vacation from races and training. We had plenty of days with over 35C degrees and our horses are not yet fully used to these kind of temperatures. Thus we gave more time for recovery between racing and training and we didn't push our horses as much as usually.

After small vacation for Farid Ibn Shadwan, Marja started with him at Ollieres at 29.5.2016 where they completed successfully 80 km grand regional cup race. The competition was though and weather was unusually cold and rainy. We didn't want to risk with stiffness and therefore we played everything safe. Not the best race but still result and points for the grand regional. Horse was quite good after the vacation and we have high hopes for the future.

Jiicee Superstar and Lauri returned to racing at Revest-du-Bion at 16.7.2016 where they did complete 40 km for 5yo. Everything went well without any major problems, if we don't count one grounded rider after spooky shadow that resulted sudden full stop. Nevertheless again this young horse worked really well and was surprisingly calm during the vet control and in the competition area. Nice race riding between lavender fields but somewhat hard and rocky.

Next day 17.7.2016 Farid Ibn Shadwan and Marja started also at Revest-du-Bion where they finished 80 km grand regional cup race! Hot temperatures during the day and really hard track but still the horse and the rider was able to work really well without any major problems. Only small technical problem with broken equipments that cost around 5 minutes. Regardless Farid Ibn Shadwan and Marja took the 1st place!

So really good weekend for both riders and both horses!

Super Pearl returned racing at 31.7.2016 at Camprieu with Marja. There they completed CEI1* 80km in high altitude (1,4 km). Really special race whit truly extraordinary views while riding around the mountain inside the clouds.  We had some transport issues and the horse didn't get as much recovery time after transport as we would like her to have. However Super Pearl was able to finish without any major problems with decent speed. Again nice result for the horse and for the rider!

As the summer is turning to fall we continue to train our horses as usually and we have lot of races we hope to participate. We have high hopes for Jiicee Superstar and Farid Ibn Shadwan and we hope to start quite many races with them before the end of the year. Also Super Pearl will continue racing as usually. Overall everything looks quite promising for the end of the year. Of course anything can happen at any time but meanwhile we enjoy and continue training and racing as planned!

Spring of 2016

We have had great and also somewhat bad start for 2016.

We have done lot of fitness training for all our horses during the spring. Great weather has been helpful and we have been able to train every single day!

Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan raced 80km at 13.03.2016 in La Crau. The race went great and the horse felt really good. With speed of 13,8km/h and last pulse of 41bpm it was really easy for the horse. It also gave second place in this speed limited race! Horse was really good and everything went without any problems!

Lauri / Super Pearl raced also 80km at 02.04.2016 in Les Mees. The race was really hard with lot of rocks and total climb of 1200m! However Super Pearl was able to finish the race with speed of 13,5km/h. Even though in the last leg she was not as eager to go (too) fast as she normally is. Next day it was clear that she had small flu coming that took its toll. Nevertheless with good last pulse the day was rewarded with second place!

Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan started 60km at 10.04.2016 in Vezenobres. The route was really hard and rocky. However the horse felt really good and metabolically everything was perfect. Sadly during the last leg of the race the horse was ripped from his right front shoe by some unlucky rocks. That caused light deviation in trotting during veterinary inspection which resulted disqualification by lameness. However the horse completed the full 60km with good speed, regardless lot of time was spend while replacing the lost shoe. With excellent last pulse it would have resulted with clear win! But sadly no luck this time.

Lauri / Jiicee Superstar raced 20km at 22.04.2016 in Uzes. This was the second race for the Jiicee Superstar which is still officially only 4 years old. She races in 5 year olds as she will be 5 year old during this year. Everything is completely new for this young horse but still she was acting really well in every part of the race. Literally hundreds of other horses, unfamiliar people and cars (!!!) was surprisingly well tolerated by Jiicee. Race went really well and she finished 7th of 25! Last pulse was also surprisingly good! We are really proud of Jiicee and we are looking forward for next races with this young horse!

Lauri / Super Pearl raced FEI1* 80km at 24.04.2016 also in Uzes. The race included many of the best riders and horses total of 65 participants! The race went really well even though Super Pearl was really hot during the first leg of the race due to the vast number of horses. This took some toll and we had to slow down for the last leg of the race, but still we were able to finish without any major problems. This resulted 46th place with speed of 14,3km/h for which we were really happy!

For now we are making sure that Farid Ibn Shadwan will recover fully before we start with him again but we hope to get him to the next race quite soon. Super Pearl has had many races within very limited time so we are giving her also time to recover. We have some great plans for Super Pearl which will be revealed later! We are looking for next race for Jiicee Superstar and if everything goes well, we will start again really soon!

So, not everything did go as planned but still really great start for the year 2016!

Winter 2015 and early 2016

Eyes to the year 2016!

As you know or may know from our Twitter / Facebook updates that we are now stationed in France! During the 2015 we made the decision to move to southern France to be more able to train and compete during all seasons of the year.

Equine

For now it has been great success and we have been able to train hard during the winter. If everything goes well then we are even able to start our first race at next sunday (21.2.2016)! This will be more or less just test race where we get to know how competing works here and to see the fitness of the Super Pearl. We will update this post after the race!

Update! 21.2.2016 race went really well with Lauri / Super Pearl. Horse felt good after winter break and speed 13,4km/h was decent for the year's first test race. We are looking forward for future races!

We are already planning our race calendar for the year. We are aiming to get FEI license for Lauri, start FEI competitions with Farid Ibn Shadwan and get Jiicee Superstar's career to good start with multiple small races. Of course we include as much races as possible with all our horses and lot of training hours for the future.

Motocross

As all things involving our move has taken lot of effort we have not been able to get our motocross season to start. However we are still planing to get motocross season going during the year but for now it seems to happen not earlier than end of the year. Though our own season hasn't started in anyway yet, we are again sponsoring Sidecarcross team Kunnas as they plan to participate all the world championship races during the year 2016! We hope them the very best! So even our team isn't doing as much motocross this season we still are participating and promoting SunRacing in the field of motocross! We will keep you updated.

Autumn 2015 report (updated 12.10.2015)

Equine

We have been working hard with the horses in last few months. There has not been many races but lot of training has been done. Sadly with Super Pearl we had small setback as the horse was startled by a dog that came from nowhere and she fell to tarmac. No major injuries but few small bruises and cuts. Next day the horse was lame and we was forced to cancel our test race and FEI race in Lithuania.

However normal training continued with other horses and soon also with Super Pearl. Super Pearl and Lauri completed second level one (59 km) qualification for Lauri and for now Super Pearl feels really good. In few weeks Super Pearl and Lauri are going to first last level (80+ km) qualification race for FEI level. In same race we will also see Farid Ibn Shadwan with Marja. We will update this post after that race!

Update 12.10.2015

Lauri / Super Pearl and Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan completed 81 km in Kõrvemaa! Well done! Team SunRacing got total 162 km in one day! Now Lauri needs only one 80+ km more for FEI level. We will aim Lauri to FEI level and to FEI competition(s) at 2016. That would give us two FEI level riders for year 2016!

Motocross

Last race for Korvikunnid Cup in Põlva was great success for Jarmo / Lauri! In both heats Jarmo / Lauri was first from the start to the finish. Thus gaining enough points to get past Stephan / Jukka and ensuring total victory in Korvikunnid Cup in the class of 50+. Well done Jarmo / Lauri and really good finish for the season 2015!

The season for motocross is over for us. We are making arrangements for the future of motocross in Team SunRacing. For now we are focusing more to the equine part and the motocross will be more in background. However we are going to return in season 2016 with solo races and we hope to participate to sidecar races again in 2016 or 2017!

Upcoming, stay tuned!

There is upcoming major news from Team SunRacing. We will give more information in the last update for 2015.

Mid 2015 report and reporting

Hello again! For now we will be committed to make quarterly reports here. Twitter and Facebook gives weekly short reports and our blog will give longer more detailed reports at least four times per year.

Motocross

Due to the slow recovery of the injuries from the ice road racing from early this year there has not been so much of motocross races as usually. However the sidecar team has been very active and Team SunRacing has been visible very often in the events. Team Jarmo / Artur has been very successful during the year and currently they are second in the class of 50+. Last two races in Kose Lauri was the passenger instead of Artur. Artur was the replacement for Lauri during Lauri's recovery. Next weekend there will be decisive race in Põlva where points are doubled and team Jarmo / Lauri is trying to go past team Stephan / Jukka.

For now there has been total 12 sidecar races this year in which team SunRacing has attended. Also team SunRacing is sponsoring Sidecarcross team Kunnas which has been very successful in many races this year. Specially in the very hard world championship races in Stelpe (11th), Kiviõli (10th) and Kegums (18th).

Equine

Where motocross has been somewhat disappointing in this season the equine team has been however very successful! Team SunRacing's Marja / Super Pearl completed FEI 2* 120km in Haanjamaa! This was the first 2* 120km for team SunRacing. Soon after that Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan completed the first level 1 qualification for the FEI level.

Marja / Super Pearl was in the team Finland in the Nordic Baltic Championship but sadly was not able to finish due injury to the front leg of the Super Pearl. This injury is now behind but we are still going slowly with Super Pear to make sure she has been fully recovered. During that time Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan completed the second level 1 qualification and first level 2 qualification for the FEI level! Also Lauri / Super Pearl finished starter qualification for Lauri! This was first test race for Super Pearl which ended well and the past injury did not show any sings.

Team SunRacing was crewing Ines Beilmann / Vandah El Aryes who became the Finnish Champion 2015! Soon after that Marja / Farid Ibn Shadwan completed the second level 2 qualification for FEI level. Now Farid Ibn Shadwan is qualified for FEI level after the compulsory time has elapsed. Farid Ibn Shadwan can start at FEI level at mid 2016. Also Lauri / Super Pearl completed first level 1 qualification for Lauri. Our youngest horse Jiicee Superstar also completed starter qualification with Marja!

For equine team lot has been happened and there has been great success during the year! We only hope that rest of the year can be as good as it has been now. Soon there will be second level 1 qualification for Lauri / Super Pearl and FEI 2* 120km for Marja / Super Pearl. If everything goes well then also first level 1 qualification for Jiicee Superstar.

Soon we will also add race log where you can see our races and kilometer totals!

See you in races!

Start of 2015 not so good but still good

Hello again for long time.

We had great hopes to make year 2015 first blog post early after the first ice road racing race but sadly it didn't go well. Our team member was injured during the first training session in the season's first ice road race. His acromioclavicular joint was badly dislocated and all the acromioclavicular ligaments was ruptured. It was operated in Finland but the recuperation takes lot of time. That left us without ice road races at season 2015. Also the first half of the year will be with less races that we aimed for. However first two sidecar races in the Korvikunnid cup the Team SunRacing is attending with another sidecar passenger. So even with the injury the Team SunRacing is still represented in different events. We also try to add some solo races as much as we can. It is anticipated that we can return to follow the racing calendar normally at June. Sadly that leaves us only about half to the races we wanted for the year 2015.

That left us with the hard choice, we will not be participating to any quad races during year 2015 as there is not enough time to train for the season events. However that means that we are going to focus more to solo motocross and equine events during the year.

The happy news come from our equine racing. The seasons first so called testing race went really well for team SunRacing. Our team was racing in though crowd in 81 km endurance event in Kiviloo Estonia. The race was supposed to be only the first test of the current fitness of the horse but everything went really well from the first leg to the finish. To our surprise we got really good time and finished first! Now we have really high hopes for next international FEI event in Kurgjärve Estonia at May 25th.

Kurtuvenai, Lithuania 20th September FEI event

Team SunRacing was at Kurtuvenai 20th September participating in FEI international 80km event.

We started traveling early morning day before the event and without any major problems (small technical problem with the car which however we was able to fix quickly without third party help) we was at racing area some time after noon. Thus we had lot of time to get ready for the event next day. This was nice change as we have usually arrived later and then many things has had to be done in somewhat hurry. Now we were able to drive through all the grooming points at the track and do relaxing ride with the horse.

Race day started well and we had good feeling. During the first and second leg we had problems getting the horse to drink which meant somewhat bad veterinary results from the second leg inspection. At that point we were little bit worried but soon after that our horse started drinking and from that we knew that she will be drinking well hereafter. Last leg went well and veterinary results after the finish inspection was much better than at the second inspection! That gave us new personal best in overall speed this season and 4th place in the competition! In top of that the horse's recovery times was really good overall which gives really positive feeling for the future. Well done!

Overall the event was really well organized and we were really happy that we were able to participate and we surely will be at Kurtuvenai in the future!
